General Description

History

The Turkish Traditional Art department began its undergraduate program in 1982, and in a few years time it started the post graduate education with Carpet Rug and Old Fabric Patterns, Tiling and Old Tile Restoration and Illumination Departments belonging to Social Science Institution. From 2002 onwards the name of the department going on to give education in Fine Arts Faculty has been changed as Turkish Traditional Art Department.

Interview, Written Examination, Portfolio, Second Cycle (Master's Degree) diploma, Transcript (minimum score GPA 80 or 3.00), required points in UDS (Foreign Language Exam) or equivalent score in KPDS, TOEFL,etc)

Transfer Students
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management
The Graduate Transfers
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs Legşilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in Graduate Transfer Guide and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

4 years, 2 semesters per year, 15 weeks per semester, 240 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

Master s Degree in Turkish Traditional Arts is intended for an educational program whose primary aim is to lead for the development of the society in terms of art and culture and the preserving of social and cultural values. All the courses are optional, except the thesis and specialty courses. The applicants can be specialized on Carpet-rug and Old Fabric Patterns , Tiling and Old Tile Restorations and Illumination together with the optional courses and these course can be enclosed to their diplomas. There are 7 academic members in this Department. The departmant enables student and instructer exchange in the scope of LLP Erasmus. The department has a billateral aggrement with Academy of Fine Arts and Design Mohor Nagi, Hungary.

10   Have the skill to use the techniques applied in different disciplines,
11   Provide environmental equivalence with the studies in private and state fields,
12   Solve the problems in designing and production process and bring out new suggestions,
13   Convert the knowledge and skills gained during the education into practice,
14   Publish scientific publications related to the field,
15   Follow the technological innovations and use them in design
16   Make respectful interferes to ethical values in accordance with the studies towards preserving cultural inheritance.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

After graduating from this program, the students work as academic personnel in state and private universities.

Graduates may apply to post doctorate studies.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The regulations for examination and grading are arranged in the fourth part of DEU Graduate School of Fine Arts Educational and Examinational Regulations. The lowest grade to be successful in a credit course is 75. Detailed assessment methods and criteria for courses are explained in syllabi.

Graduation Requirements

Third Cycle (Doctorate Degree) program is comprised of at least 7 courses, not being less than 21 national credits, pasing a gualifiying examination, preparing and defending a doctoral dissertation, in total 240 ECTS credits.
