Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach students to follow up current illumination works and exhibitions, to make criticism by using piece examination techniques, to create unique designs by using current techniques of similar and different discipilines, apply them and present them verbally with use of scientific data.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To follow up, examine and evaluate the current illumination works and exhibitions in design process
2   To classify and interpret piece examination techniques in plastic arts, to make criticism about them
3   To explain current techniques and methods of similar and different disciplines
4   To apply current techniques and methods of similar and different disciplines in design
5   To create unique design by using these techniques, to present them nominally and verbally by using scientific data.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, the Turkish art of Illumination design process will be explained with examples by teaching the link between related disciplines. Design principles, features, similarities and differences in other disciplines will be discussed and resources, collection editions about art of illumination and design will be introduced and be evaluated.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The course has 2 credits for theoretical knowledge and 2 credits for applications. During the semester, the attendance will be taken and there will be a midterm for students to comprehend the subjects in lessons. In the midterm, the degree of comprehension and understanding of the subjects in given course books and also the degree of skills in applications will be evaluated. A homework and a presentation which are prepared with the systematic of the comprehended course will be expected from students

Assessment Criteria

In order to number of questions in the exams, the mark distributions out of 100 points will be announced before the exams and the total result will be evaluated. The project, homework presentation and attendance will be evaluated out of 100 points in the context of accuracy, orderliness and particularity.

Course Policies and Rules

The course begins with theoretical description, drawing with the help of visuals and personal applications about related subjects. . At the end of the classes, the subject of next class is announced to students as research subject. At the beginning of the next class, stages of the works are examined, mistakes are criticized and discussed; then the students begin their new application in studios.
