DEGREE PROGRAMMES

History

Dokuz Eylul University, Fine Arts Faculty, Department of Traditional Turkish Arts has commenced education with three major branches in 1986-1987 educational year.
Traditional Turkish Arts Department aims to raise conscious young artists who will be able to execute conservation processes of our ancient artifacts and to take effective part in their transfer towards future generations. The Department has been active in organizing many symposiums, exhibitions and projects in order to preserve traditional Turkish arts and introduce them to future generations.
Carpet-Rug-Fabric Design branch has commenced education in 1986-1987 educational year. The aim of this branch is to raise students who are equipped with efficient information in documenting past resources, preserving and conserving existing ones and to raise artists who are able to present new ideas in design issues. For this reason, students of our Branch are equipped with theoritical information as well as practicle information. Thus, our students will produce prudential work in fields of traditional textiles where they still hold their functional properties in diverse regions of our country and which are considerably contributing to our country s economy.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Fakülteye yatay geçişlerde, 24.4.2010 tarihli ve 27561 sayılı Resmî Gazete de yayımlanan Yükseköğretim Kurumlarında Ön lisans ve Lisans Düzeyindeki Programlar Arasında Geçiş, Çift Anadal, Yandal İle Kurumlar Arası Kredi Transferi Yapılması Esaslarına İlişkin Yönetmelik hükümleri uygulanır.
Dikey geçişlerde; 19.2.2002 tarihli ve 24676 sayılı Resmî Gazete de yayımlanan Meslek Yüksekokulları ve Açık öğretim Ön Lisans Programları Mezunlarının Lisans Öğrenimine Devamları Hakkında Yönetmelik hükümleri uygulanır.
Lisans öğrenimlerini tamamlamayan veya tamamlayamayanların meslek yüksekokullarına geçişlerinde, 18.3.1989 tarihli ve 20112 sayılı Resmî Gazete de yayımlanan Lisans Öğrenimlerini Tamamlamayan veya Tamamlayamayanların Ön Lisans Diploması Almaları veya Meslek Yüksekokullarına İntibakları Hakkında Yönetmelik hükümler i uygulanır.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

1- Training is performed based on course passing system in faculty.
2- Failed courses belong to an academic year are firstly enrolled next academic year.
3- Absolute assessment system is applied in faculty.
4- Grade point avarage (GPA); it is calculated by dividing the number which is found by multiplying course credits with marks to total credit in relevant term.
5- General Grade point avarage (GGPA); it covers the whole courses and education period so far and is calculated by dividing the number which is found by multiplying all course credits with marks to total credit.
6- Only enrolled courses are taken into consideration in GPA and GGPA calculation, the courses which can not be attend are omitted. The last mark is considered for repeated courses. In average calculation, two decimal after comma is used.
7- The last mark gained for repeated courses is passing mark. Whether have been taking course addition to maximum load not exceedingly two courses or not and its conditions are determined by Faculy Administrative Board.
8- The student must complete 4 years of study acquiring 240 (ECTS )credits. At least 60 ECTS of 240 ECTS credits must have been electives courses. This degree is awarded to students who have successfuly completed all courses in the curriculum, 60 days of internship, Graduation project and have a minimum CGPA of 50/100 and no failing grades.

To be able to educate students to become creative individuals, to have contemporary,and universally progressive mind sets. And to contribute to the preparation of a cultural atmosphere in which the cultural heritage of the country is protected and developed further.
VISION
To be able to become a higly developed educational institution, which aims to contribute to the cultural development of the society as a whole and to lead cultural and scientific research in this direction. Our aim is to open new pathways into the protection of traditional arts and crafts and to develop research and practical work in areas of cultural preservation.

Various training opportunities are provided to students related to the areas of work in order to find jobs in the ever competative market. Fotr this, the students are trained in the usage of the most advanced technologies in their respective fields of study and specialisation.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The regulations for examination and grading are arranged in the fourth part of DEU Faculty of Fine Arts Educational and Examinational Regulations. The lowest grade to be successful in a credit course is 50. Detailed assessment methods and criteria for courses are explained in syllabi.

Graduation Requirements

1-A student is required to have minimum 240 credıts of ECTS ın total. Electıve courses cover at least % 60 of 240 ECTS
2-A student is required complete the field interships in designated terms and hours.
