Course Objective

The aim is to have the students comprehend the methods and the techniques used for thread dyeing by practising; to fix the dyeing formulas applied in thread dyeing using traditional methods, and to try out dyeing practices.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   adapt the dyeing formulas from the sources,
2   apply the adapted formulas,
3   classify the dyeing materials in accordance with the colorific parts and use them in practices,
4   identify the dyeing methods and practise them,
5   become skilful at representing the researches and practices they have done.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The aim is to supply maximum student attendance. In the first lesson, the 15-week program is introduced to the students. Besides books and articles scanning, the students learn how to obtain colours with natural dyeing materials by dyeing practices in laboratories.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Students will be given a mid-term and a final exam concerning the subjects given theoretical. They will also prepare an assignment. The pass grade will be determined by the assignment and the grades they get in the two exams.

Assessment Criteria

The midterm and preparing the laboratory notebook will be evaluated out of 100; the 30% of the midterm, and the 70% of preparing the laboratory notebook will determine the pass grade. The evaluation of the exam questions will be given to the students.

Course Policies and Rules

The compulsory attendance is 70%.
Before the end of the term, in the last 15 days, students will be able to learn their attendance. Students having absenteeism over 70% won t be accepted to the final exam.
At the end of each course, the next lesson s subject is given to the students as study and research subject. So, students come to the next lesson ready.
Apart from midterm and final exams, students who are on sick leave will be considered absent.
Students who don t enter the midterm or/and the final exams without an excuse won t be able to take them again by any means.
