General Description

History

Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Nursing started education under the name of School of Nursing by taking 50 students in the 1994-1995 academic year. In the same year, he started his master's education and gave the first master's graduates in 1997 and the first undergraduate graduates in 1998. With the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 01/08/2011, the School of Nursing was closed and the Faculty of Nursing affiliated to the Rectorate was established.
Our Faculty, which includes an optional English preparatory program and four years of nursing education, made its way into the history of nursing education in our country as the first to implement the Problem Based Learning Model in its curriculum in the 1999-2000 academic year.
Due to the rapidly increasing number of students in our faculty every year, the use of PBL method has been abandoned and a transition has been made to the classical education method. It aims to train nurses who provide health and care services at universal standards with an innovative, collaborative, investigative, questioning and humanistic approach in order to develop and improve the health of the society. The number of students in our faculty is 1269 in the 2015-2016 academic year, 1409 in the 2016-2017 academic year, 1564 in the 2017-2018 academic year, and 1158 in the 2019-2020 academic year. Until the 2020-2021 academic year, 2440 students at undergraduate level and 389 students at graduate level graduated from our faculty. He still continues his education in nine departments and undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs.
Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Nursing undergraduate education program accreditation process started in January 2017. At this meeting, the Faculty of Nursing Accreditation Commission was established with the participation of a faculty member and research assistant from each department. The Faculty made a written application to the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Nursing Education Programs (HEPDAK) on 25.01.2018 and the application was accepted. A visit to the institution was made by the members of HEPDAK on 16-18 December 2018, and it was reported in a written document that the undergraduate program was accredited for two years until 30.09.2021 with the decision of the interim visit on 04.04.2019.
