Course Objective

To train nurses who have acquired the basic knowledge of microbiology and microorganisms, know the infectious diseases caused by microorganisms, their agents, the principles of prevention and treatment, understand the importance of sterilization and disinfection concepts and use them in their practices.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To know the basic concepts of microbiology
2   To know the microorganisms
3   To understand the agents of infection, transmission routes, prevention and basic treatment principles
4   To define the concepts of asepsis, antisepsis, sterilization and disinfection
5   To understand the importance of aseptic applications
6   To identify nosocomial infection agents, sources and modes of transmission and measures for them
