General Description

History

The Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program has started its education activities at the associate degree level as of the 2022-2023 academic year within the body of Efes Vocational School. Students are placed with the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) among high school and related vocational high school graduates.

Vocational high school diploma or high school diploma, placement through a nation-wide Student Selection Examination.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

2 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 120 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the Civil Aviation Cabin Services program is dynamic, aware of its professional and ethical responsibilities, has effective communication skills, is actively involved in teamwork, solution-oriented, has leadership and management skills, keeps flight safety and security at the highest level in airline transportation, and has command of operational level activities. is to train Cabin Officers who give equal importance to flight safety and customer focus, are responsible, can act proactively in the face of events, have a high sense of duty, and have knowledge of foreign languages at a level that can communicate effectively.

1   Learns basic knowledge of world geography and world cultures.
2   Learns the knowledge of national and international aviation regulatory.
3   Have knowledge of the concepts of aviation safety and aviation security.
4   Have knowlUnderstands the basic knowledge of flight theory, aerodynamics and meteorology.
5   Understands the basic knowledge of flight theory, aerodynamics and meteorology.
6   Learns diction and announcement techniques, uses these outcomes in communication with the passenger and in flight operations.
7   Have the capacity to serve different classes of passengers and apply them to on-board service.
8   Learns and intervenes on the responsibilities of survival techniques and crowd control in all emergencies in aviation.
9   Understands the importance of accurate and effective intervention in first aid in aviation and performs first aid practices within its authority and skills.
10   Knows about transporting hazardous materials in aviation and intervenes in any emergency situations that may occur on the flight.
11   Understands the importance of effective use of human factors and human performance and limits in aviation, and internalizes team resource management.
12   Understands the importance of general appearance, personal care, understands the role and responsibilities, applies them in professional life.
13   Learns protocol and courtesy rules and applies them to all flight operations.
14   Learn about the normal flight operation process and avoid duties and responsibilities within the teamwork.
15   Have the ability to communicate in English at the basic level of his profession.

Graduates can work at offiicial instutions in the field of aviation or at private airlines, airports and other aviation companies.

The curriculum of the department consists of compulsory and elective courses. There are elective courses in the fall semester and spring semester in the departmental elective course pool. Our students have to do internships in order to graduate.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Evaluation methods for every course are defined in the course syllabus form prepared by the relevant teaching staff and provided in the Information Package. The related articles of the
Regulation of Dokuz Eylul University on Education and Examination in Associate's and Bachelor's Degrees and Implemetation Fundamentals of Education and Examination in Efes Vocational School are implemented for examinations and course pass marks.

Graduation Requirements

The student must complete 2 years of study acquiring 120 (ECTS) credits. This degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all theoretical courses and applied courses in the curriculum and 40 working days of practical training. According to the Article 33 of Regulation of Dokuz Eylul University on education and examination in Associate's and Bachelor's Degrees, the student should have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.00 on a 4.00 scale and also have got no failing grades in order to complete the education successfully and attain a diploma.
