Course Objective

The aim of the Effective Communication Course is to convey the basic qualities of the concept of communication to the individuals who will form the qualified workforce of the service sector; to enable them to produce solutions to the communication problems they will encounter in their working life; It is to gain competence in matters that need attention in effective communication.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The elements and processes that make up the concept of communication that affect individual and social life are understood.
2   Basic communication skills are developed; gain knowledge on teamwork, problem solving and crisis management
3   Acquisitions regarding the correct use of mass media are gained.
4   In working life and in the service sector; Requirements, justifications and realities of communication between employee-employer-service recipient-administration are comprehended.
5   Consumer/user attitudes and behaviors are examined in the context of communication.
6   Cultural phenomenon and intercultural communication practices are acquired.
7   Methods and strategies for effective communication are learned.

Exams: There will be held on two in class exams; midterm exam and final exam during the semester.
Grades: 50 % Midterm Exam, 50 % Final Exam, 50 % Make-up Exam.
