Course Objective

How scientific and technological studies depend on each other and how these studies result in economic growth and development; The study of science and technology policies, and the analysis of these policies from conceptual, theoretical, and empirical perspectives.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will be able to explain the role of science, technology and innovation in economic growth
2   Students will be able to relate different institutions in the economy to science, technology and innovation
3   Students will be able to explain public support mechanisms that will trigger economic growth based on research and development
4   Students will be able to explain different technology transfer mechanisms

Exams: There will be held on two in class exams; midterm exam and final exam during the semester.
Grades: 50 % Midterm Exam, 50 % Final Exam, 50 % Make-up Exam.
