DEGREE PROGRAMMES

: Industrial Engineering

General Description

History

Department of Industrial Engineering was founded in 1972 within the Faculty of Engineering Science of Ege University. The Department became a part of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of Ege University in 1978 and then joined the Engineering Faculty of Dokuz Eylül University in 1983. Students are given preparatory foreign language education depending on their preference. The department offers graduate programs within the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences. Currently, the undergraduate education program constitutes formal education in Turkish. In addition to the undergraduate program, the department also provides graduate level education and offers Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Engineering within the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences. The educational language of the graduate program is English.

Qualification Awarded

First Cycle (Bachelor's Degree)

Specific Admission Requirements

High school diploma, placement through a nation-wide Student Selection Examination.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

For students who intend to transfer to Dokuz Eylül University from universities in Türkiye and in foreign countries, the articles of Regulation on the principles of student transfer between programs at associate and undergraduate degrees in higher education institutions, dual major and minor program standards and principles on credit transfers between institutions as well as the Evaluation Criteria on Student Transfer determined by Dokuz Eylül University Senate are implemented. The vertical transfers of the graduates of Vocational Schools to undergraduate programs related to their completed programs are subject to the rules of Regulation on the continuation of the graduates of Vocational Schools and Distant Learning Programs to undergraduate programs.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to graduate from this 4-year program, the student must successfully complete all the courses in the curriculum and satisfy a minimum of 240 ECTS credits. This degree is given to students who have passed all the courses and completed their compulsory internships (Jobshop Training, Production Internship and Management Internship) within the specified period and with the qualifications required and successfully completed the graduation project, provided a minimum GPA of 2.00 / 4.00. .

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the Industrial Engineering undergraduate program is to provide graduates who are leaders in their field with the competence to design, plan, analyze, improve and manage integrated systems consisting of human, machine, material, information, energy and financial resources. The Department of Industrial Engineering offers a teaching plan that aims to train students who are aware of social responsibility, have adopted the ethical values of their profession, have adopted lifelong learning and self-improvement as a principle, have the ability to adapt to the needs and changes of the economy and industry, are prone to teamwork and interdisciplinary cooperation, and have a creative and analytical mindset.

The program includes compulsory courses in both basic engineering sciences and industrial engineering. The education plan includes compulsory courses such as operations research, production management, work study and human factor engineering, simulation, as well as elective courses that students can choose according to their own preferences. The department has applied for Engineering Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation (MÃœDEK) program. Students who successfully complete the undergraduate program can complete the Double Major Undergraduate Program (DMP) in Mechanical, Textile and Computer Engineering Programs or Minor Program in Mechanical Engineering and Textile Engineering Programs. Students who complete the Double Major program receive a diploma in a second major; Those who complete the minor program are given a certificate in the second minor.

The department has Production Systems, Work Study and Ergonomics, Intelligent Optimization and Decision Making and ERP Laboratories to support training activitiest. It has bilateral agreements within the scope of the ERASMUS Student and Academician Exchange Program and FARABI program, which supports student and academician exchange by making bilateral agreements with quality institutions which international reputation, thus aiming to increase the knowledge and experience gained.
