Credit Mobility and Recognition of Former Learning
New Registration:
Students newly enrolled in our university can apply to be exempt from courses they have taken and succeeded in a higher education program before, if any.
Students must apply with a petition for exemption to the relevant faculty deanships and college directorates within one week until the end of the first week of the academic year / semester in which they start the program following the date of their enrollment, and those students who cannot enroll in time must apply for exemption within one week from the date of their enrollment. Applications to institutes can be made within the first week of each semester in which the student renews their registration.
If students who cannot apply within this period, provided that they document their excuse, could ALSO apply within one week from the end date of their excuse. In this case their exemption requests will be evaluated by the board of directors of the relevant unit.
The application must be made in person or by official representatives.
Except for undergraduate transfer, the student must add the course content and transcript approved by the higher education institution where the student has previously studied to the petition stating which course / courses the student wants to be exempted from in return for the course / courses the student has previously taken and succeeded. If the course to be exempted is taken in a different language, the course content in Turkish Language and transcript approved by the relevant institution or by a notary public must also be attached to the petition.
Exemption and adaptation procedures are not made for courses taken from universities abroad whose equivalence is not recognized by the Council of Higher Education.
In the future semesters/years, exemption requests can only be made for the courses that will be added to the education programs later. Exemption requests cannot be made otherwise.
Exemption applications are evaluated by the relevant adaptation commissions and decided by the relevant unit boards of directors.
Undergraduate Transfer:
Students enrolled in a higher education institution can transfer to diploma programs at either the same or different levels of other higher education institutions or can transfer between diploma programs at the same level within the same higher education institution.
Undergraduate transfer procedures to our university are carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation. Detailed

Applications are evaluated by the relevant unit within the framework of the announced conditions. Applications of candidates who do not meet the conditions are rejected.
The applications are evaluated by the Undergraduate Transfer Commission or Commissions to be established by the relevant unit's board of directors, under the chairmanship of the Dean / Vice Director or an academic faculty member, and the undergraduate transfer placement procedures are carried out upon the decision of the board of directors.
The success grades obtained according to the quadratic or hundred system are converted by using the conversion tables determined by the Higher Education Executive Board.
For applications made from higher education institutions abroad, it is required that the higher education institution where the student is studying abroad and the program in which the education is carried out are recognized by the Council of Higher Education as an institution authorized to award associate degree or undergraduate diploma and that the diploma program in which the student is enrolled is accepted by the relevant university as equivalent to the associate degree or undergraduate diploma program to which the student applies for transfer.
According to Dokuz Eylül University Graduate Education and Training Regulations, a successful student who has completed at least one semester in another institute's main science/major art branches within the University or in the graduate program of another higher education institution can be accepted to graduate programs through undergraduate transfer. The conditions for admission through undergraduate transfer are determined by the relevant institute's board of directors. Students who enroll through undergraduate transfer may be granted exemption from the courses they have taken during their education in other institutes, if deemed appropriate by the institute board of directors, upon the proposal of the institute's main science/major art branches.
Vertical Transfer:
The procedures regarding the transition of candidates who graduated from associate degree programs of vocational schools or open education faculties to undergraduate programs (vertical transfer) are carried out by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), according to the results of the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS), taking into account the preferences of the candidates.
Students who have the right to start their undergraduate education may be granted exemption from the courses they have taken during their associate degree education, which are deemed equivalent by the Faculties/Colleges, in accordance with the relevant legislation.
In programs that are taught in a foreign language and in programs with a compulsory foreign language preparatory class, students must pass the foreign language exemption exam to be held by the university or be successful by attending the foreign language preparatory class in order to start the undergraduate program.
Double Major/Minor:

University students are given the opportunity to receive double diploma by
studying in a second undergraduate program, in addition to the undergraduate
program they are enrolled in, if they fulfill the necessary conditions.
Similarly, with minor programs, students who successfully complete their major
undergraduate program can receive a minor certificate in another branch of
their interest if they fulfill the necessary conditions.
