History |
Department of Psychology was founded in 2009 and it started to accept undergraduate students in 2013-2014 academic years. Undergraduate program in Psychology consists of 30 % of English courses; thus, preparation school in English is obligatory. In terms of graduate education opportunities, there are two master's programs in Psychology and Clinical Psychology, as well as a Psychology Doctorate program. |

Qualification Requirements and Regulations |
4 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 240 ECTS in total. In order for students to complete their education successfully in our faculty, their GPA (Grade Point Average) should be at least 2.00. Final year students who are not able to get a GPA of 2.00 are entitled to take a one-course examination in order to increase the GPA if they are able to fulfill the condition of a GPA of 2.00 from the courses included in the program of the last four semesters. Those who are not able to get a GPA of 2.00 through one-course examination are entitled to take a mid-term exam, final exam or make-up exam from the courses of the last four semesters. The students benefit from this right of examination in the exam period during the semester in which the courses are opened. The students who would like to benefit from this right of examination declare the exams that they will take at the beginning of the semester during registration. |
Profile of the Programme |
The objective of Undergraduate Program in Psychology is to present students basic psychology knowledge and skills of scientific thinking, to provide them notion of transferring those information and skills to relevant people and organizations and to acquire them questioning and producing knowledge on graduation. It is aimed to have graduates who are able to reach and comprehend current and contemporary theoretical information and applications in psychology, to administer them in line with ethical principles, to transfer them in service and in doing so to have personal and social awareness and professional responsibility. |

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples |
Graduates in this Psychology program will get diploma in Bachelor degree in Psychology. This degree provides opportunity to work as psychologist in various organizations of state and private sectors such as organizations in health, education, industry, social work and research centers. Graduates might work in governmental organizations, including Ministries of Health, Justice, Internal Affairs, Security and Police Departments etc. As specific requirements are met, they could also work in Ministry of Education as well. However, in order to increase personal knowledge in specific subfield psychology and to work as an expert in relevant area, students are strongly encouraged to get master degree in various subfields of psychology (i.e., clinical, social, development, cognitive, experimental, industrial/organizational psychology etc.) |
Access to Further Studies |
The students who have completed their undergraduate education successfully can continue their studies in graduate programs (second cycle) in their own field or related fields provided that they pass the examination ALES and have sufficient knowledge of English. |

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
The assessment methods used for each course are defined in the Course Syllabus Form prepared by the Instructor of the course and included in the Information Package. The related articles of the Regulations on Dokuz Eylul University Upper Secondary Education, Undergraduate Education and Examinations and Education and Examination Principles of Faculty of Letters are applied. |
Graduation Requirements |
The degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all the courses in the curriculum and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 / 4.00 and 240 ECTS. Graduation requirements are as stated in the chapter Qualification requirement and regulations. |
