Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine the concepts of mental process, physiological process, behaviours and health and the relationship between all of them and also to learn how these concepts are investigated scientifically . Learning the role and tasks of health psychologists and understanding the role of enviromental, social, psychological factors on the health, illness and pain are specifically other aims of the course. In addition, the course also gives information about the various theories related to helath psychology how these theories explain the health and illness behaviours.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To have knowledge about history, goals, focus and the future of health psychology
2   Be able to list the main theories of health psychology.
3   Be able to explain the relations of stress and health
4   Be able to assess the role of coping with stress in the relationship between stress and health
5   Be able to explain the role of psychosocial factors on the initiative, treatment and outcomes of current frequent illness.
6   Be able to discuss the role of beliefs, bahaviours and attitude on the health and illness behaviours.
