Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle (Bachelor's Degree) diploma; a minimum score of 55 from the Academic Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) in the related field or GRE/GMAT equivalent; a minimum score of 50 from the Foreign Language Exams (UDS/KPDS/YDS/e-YDS/YOKDIL) or from equivalent foreign language proficiency exam approved by OSYM or a minimum score of 55 from DEU School of Foreign Languages English Proficiency Test. Transcript; a minimum score of 65 from the graduate school academic proficiency exam.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

2 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 120 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

It is aimed to train high-level researchers in the field of Spiritual Counseling and Guidance who can obtain and produce a high level of knowledge, who have advanced analysis power, can research and study at national and international level, and share this information with their colleague . In contemporary life, the individual may encounter tragic problems where the meaning of life is lost and enter the coping process at an unexpected moment. While these encounter situations can sometimes occur in hospitals, prisons, nursing homes, social services institutions, they can also be experienced in times of crisis such as earthquake, fire, loss of relatives, accident and post-physical disability and addiction. In the spiritual counseling process, as in various parts of the world, it will be an important achievement to solve the problems of religious development and negative religious understanding by turning the negative religion perception to deal with positive religion, as well as solving the problems of the person, quality of life, supporting mental health.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   In addition to the information obtained during the undergraduate period, students develop his/her own knowledges and competencies in the field of Spiritual Counseling and Guidance at the level of expertise.
2   Comprehends the psychological, sociological and psychotherapeutic dimensions of the stories and basic moral concepts in the Qur'an.
3   Recognizes the concepts and practices of spiritual counseling, spiritual guidance, religious counseling, spiritual support and spiritual care with historical and current examples; discovers the similarities and differences between them
4   Have the necessary equipment to serve in different institutions where spiritual counseling is needed.
5   Problem areas such as God, God-world, religion-science, religion-art, religion-moral relationship and their different approaches in these fields increase.
6   It specializes in the use of religious and spiritual methods and techniques together with modern psychological counseling techniques.
7   Know and practise the basic principles and principles in the field of Spiritual Counseling and Guidance
8   Social psychological content suggestion, calming, condolence, etc. common in the society. comprehend the importance and functions of spiritual aid and solidarity examples.
9   Both in the history of humanity and in the history of Islamic thought, systematic and philosophical approaches on existence, knowledge, nature, art, morality, human, God, prophet, politics, science, etc. are learned.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Program with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 53 ECTS), a seminar (3 ECTS) and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/ S / TP grades.
