Course Objective

To introduce moral literature showing spirituality, ways of maintaining one's integrity and balance in Islamic philosophy and thought tradition.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1-) To discuss the psychological foundations of morality such as spiritual medicine, happiness chemistry, adornment of moods, avoiding sorrow, happiness path, human nature, the structure of the personality, and the interaction of the individual with environmental conditions.
2   2-) To be able to benefit from selected texts that question the processes affecting the emotional, voluntary and cognitive development of the individual and the acquisition of moral values in the light of philosophical moral theories.
3   3-) To gain the ability to deal with concrete life situations and problems by determining the views of moral philosophers about the source of individual and social values and the goals and objectives of human actions that affect the development of moral personality.

1 General presentation of spirituality teachings in Islamic thought, general concepts such as spirit, ego, mind, willpower regarding human nature and personality.
2 Concepts such as morality, decency, adaptation, etiquette and discipline and moral life; moral behavior, equivalents of moral values in religious and philosophical sources
3 According to the Qur'an and Sunnah, basic concepts of human nature, abilities and inadequacies, morality and spirituality
4 Kindi's doctrine to relieve sadness (Defu'l- Ahzan)
