General Description
History |
Industrial Glass and Ceramics Department has been established in 2002. The programme is founded as Industrial Ceramic Programme and got its current name in 2009. Our programme covers formal education and education language is Turkish. The aim of the department is to educate the students as a technician for the industry of glass and ceramic. Industry needs well-educated technicians who will play an important role between engineers and workers. Our department fulfills this demand. Students graduated from Industrial Glass and Ceramics Department have work discipline and ethics and they can follow the technological developments, use related machinery. So, they will have a key role at the production continuity and at the development of the product quality. |

Diplomaeds from Vocational and Technical Secondary education foundations noted in 2547 numbered law in 45th item can place directly and placement through a nation-wide Student Selection Examination. |

For the placement without nation-wide examination, graduateds must be from the Vocational and Technical Secondary education foundations noted according to 2547 numbered law in 45th item. |
Qualification Requirements and Regulations |
The degree is awarded to student who has successfully completed all the courses in the curriculumin min 2 years, has successfully completed trainings in 40 days, has a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 / 4.00 and completed min 120 ECTS. |
Profile of the Programme |
Our country has rich ceramic raw material sources. Because of this reason, ceramics industry has developed. Brick and tile factories, refractory brick factories, porcelain factories, high-voltage isolator factories, electro-porcelain factories, sanitary ware factories, floor and wall tile factories are producing ceramic materials. An important part of ceramics produced are exported. This developing ceramics industry needs well educated technicians who will coordinate the work between the ceramics engineers and the workers. Industrial Glass and Ceramics Program, founded in Torbalı Vocational School of Higher Education, will answer this requirement. |

Graduates of Industrial Glass and Ceramic Programme are employed in a wide range of positions in both the private and public sectors. Our graduates can acquire positions in different fields of the private sector, such as ceramic production factories, glass production factories, refractory factories, iron-steel factories and ceramic and glass workshops. Graduates can work in related companies and foundations as a technician, researcher and saler. |

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
Relevant grading is applied to courses and min grade has to be DD for passing the course and min grade is cumulatively CC to be graduated. The course evaluation criteria are defined for each course by the instructor(s) of the corresponding course and are given in the Course Description Form found in the information package. |
Graduation Requirements |
The Associates Degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all 2 years courses with a total 120 ECTS in the curriculum, including 40 days of internship and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00/4.00 scale without any failing grades. |
