Course Objective

The purposes of this course are to give the basic knowledge about technical drawing, to draw the different views of the objects and to understand the technical drawings of a new design. Also another purpose of this course is to draw the horizontal and vertical cross-sections of the objects and to understand the perspective drawing techniques.

1   To use the technical drawing tools appropriate to their purposes
2   To draw according to propeties and dimensions of a technical drawing paper
3   To draw the standart lines and appropriate writings
4   To use planes of projections, projection methods and view extraction methods
5   To understand the projection and appearance of the basic shapes
6   To draw the perspectives of the given objects
7   To draw the cross-sections of the givern objects

1 Introduction, description and importance of technical drawing
2 Technical drawing tools, papers and scales
3 Text and figures, writing applications, and types of lines, line applications
4 Geometric drawings
5 Projections; point, straight line, projection of planes.
6 Appearance extraction, detection of track position, appearance types, determination of the number of appearance
7 Mid-term exam
8 Drawing the objects with one and two views.
9 Application
10 Description of the perspective, types of the perspective and drawing the perspective of simple objects.
11 Sectioning and rules of sectioning, Drawing of full sectioning and semi-sectioning
12 Drawing the graded, partial and turned cross-sections
13 Ruules of scaling, Scaling applications
14 Application

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course will be taught theoretically, practically and by giving homeworks. Instructor will give the drawings in the classroom and teach how to draw it by discussions using question and answers. Also practical homeworks will be given for better understanding.
