Course Objective

To give the necessary technological knowledge about the calculations of Seger formulations, surface tension of glazes, acid-base ratio and the coefficients of expansion and fluxability of glazes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To solve Seger formulations of the glazes.
2   To define the calculations of surface tension of glazes, acid-base ratio and the coefficients of expansion and fluxability of glazes.
3   To compose appropriate glaze recipe by using the glaze calculations.
4   To know the frits and calculation of the frits.
5   To identify the viscosity and hardness of the glazes.

1 The description of the glaze, raw materials for the glaze.
2 The description of the Seger Formula.
3 The surface tension calculations of the glazes.
4 The acid-base calculations of the glazes
5 The fluxability calculations of the glazes
6 The calculations of expansion coefficient of the glazes
7 Mid-term Exam
8 To compose appropriate glaze recipe by using the glaze calculations : Surface tension, acid-base ratio, fluxability coefficient and expansion coefficients.
9 To compose appropriate glaze recipe by using the glaze calculations : Surface tension, acid-base ratio, fluxability coefficient and expansion coefficients.
10 To compose appropriate glaze recipe by using the glaze calculations : Surface tension, acid-base ratio, fluxability coefficient and expansion coefficients.
11 Basics of the frits.
12 To calculate frit from the glaze whose Seger Formula is known.
13 To calculats the glaze recipies by using the frits.
14 Viscosity and hardness of the glazes.

The theoretical lectures of the course will be taught in the classroom and the applications of the theoretical issues will be taught in the laboratory. The instructor will discuss the theoretical and applications of the course for better understanding.
