General Description

History

Our scholl has started education as a branch of Ege University in 1980. Later our vocational school became a branch of Dokuz Eylül University according to the decree law dated 28.3.1983 and number 41; art: 18/J
According to the Higher Education Act 2880 amended by Law No. 2547 7/d (2) Justice School Title was changed into Vocational School for Judicial Practices.

Being placed according to the result of the Student Placement Exam.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Recognition of prior learning, vertical, horizontal and internal transfers in higher education institutions are arranged according to the Regulation on Principles of Transfer Between Assosciate and Bachelor Programs, Double Major, Minor and Credit Transfers Between Institutions
Students might be exempted from the accredited and minimum courses by the decision of Board of School Directors. Exemption exams are held for foreign language courses in our curriculum at the begining of the academic year; students who pass this examination are exempted from that course.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The Associate's Degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum which amounts to 120 Credits, have at least 60 CGPA (Cumulative Point Average) on a 100 scale and have completed the compulsory 30 day training.
Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law Vocational School for Judicial Practices Principles of Educaiton and Examination contains information on grading in art. 25 and training in art. 15.

Profile of the Programme

Educating staff to work in institiutions operating in the legal system such as court houses, law offices, notaries and who have a basic knowledge of legal issues and legal notion, also information on the functioning of the court system, has respect to law and aware of professional ethics.
Keyboard lessons are given in an independent laboratory. No courses taught in a foreign language.

1   Being capable of exercising the profession as a a person who embraced the rule of law principle, justice, independence of the judiciary, equality and fundamental universal principles of law.
2   Working for the legal system to operate respectfully to human rights, in accordance with the legislation and ethic rules.
3   Having an excellent command of legal terminology, legislation and operation of the judicial bodies.
4   Performing duties carefully.
5   Having sufficient Turkish communication skills to cooperate with people and institutions on legal matters and present solutions to legal problems.
6   Being capable of preparing the necessary legal documents, such as records and etc., by using appropriate legal terms and quickly.
7   Having information on the importance, function and principles of the judiciary and principles of the operation of the judiciary.
8   Having sufficient knowledge on legal methodology to solve the problems and conflicts that might arise during the administrative operation of the legal system.
9   Having the necessary skills to help and guide the applicants in fundamental subjects.
10   Having the skills of life-long learning, learning to learn and follow the developments in his/her field.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Vocational Schol for Judicial Practices educates clerks that have basic legal knowledge to work in courts. Our graduates might work in public or private sector, notaries, law offices as para-legal, bailiff, execution officer.

Access to Further Studies

Can apply to first cycle programme (law) by succeding the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).

An undergrad student takes 6 elective courses in value of 60 ECTS during the undergrad program, in which the total ECTS is 120. In terms of ECTS, the ratio of the elective courses to compulsory courses is 25%.

Graduation Requirements

Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law Vocational School for Judicial Practices Principles of Educaiton and Examination art. 15.
Minimum ECTS is 60 for each year and 120 ECTS in total.
General grade point average: minimum 60 for each course. Apart from this there is no other GPA requirement.
