DEGREE PROGRAMMES

: Medical Imaging Techniques

General Description

History

The Radiology Program was opened Dokuz Eylul University, The Health Services Vocational School in 1990 - 1991 academic year. The aim of this program is to prepare the patient for examination for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, to obtain images with medical imaging devices such as conventional and digital X-ray, fluoroscopy, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, PET-CT and ultrasonography, to make films and images ready for use, To train qualified Medical Imaging Technologists who have the knowledge and skills to control and maintain equipment and can identify problems and propose solutions. The program is available to graduates of Health Vocational High School and High School. The prerequisites in the University Entrance Guide published by ÖSYM are sought for the students who will enter the program.
In the Medical Imaging Techniques, the students receive intensive training from basic medical sciences throughout their education. This education constitutes the infrastructure of the students' vocational courses. As vocational courses, radiation and radiation protection, the structure and use of medical imaging devices, on-the-device practical training and evaluation, education is given on subjects such as approach to the patient while information about diseases are also given in radiology departments. In addition, while using high-tech systems in radiology departments, they receive training to improve their ability to create high-quality images at the lowest radiation dose by ensuring radiation safety in these systems. Our students carry out the practice lessons within the educational planning in the Radiology departments of the hospitals (Medical Faculty Hospital, Private and State Hospitals) under the supervision of the department instructors. Students are raised as individuals who are strictly adhering to medical ethics and deontological rules, respectful of patient rights, and capable of fulfilling the task at any time and under any condition. Our students carry out their 6-week internship in the radiology departments of hospitals and fully equipped private medical centers at the end of the first year.
They complete the program as a health technologist by completing all courses, professional practices and internships within the program. Today, almost every hospital and even dental hospitals in our country have a Radiology department. In addition, the number of private imaging centers is increasing day by day. That is why the need for well-trained and qualified staff is increasing in hospitals and private imaging centers. Most of the current graduated Medical Imaging Technicians have settled in the staff that the Ministry of Health has recently opened. Apart from public institutions, private hospitals and polyclinics constitute a serious employment alternative for the graduates of this program. In the education activities required by the program, employment opportunities and planning, it is made cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Health Directorates, public and private health institutions (hospitals, clinics, polyclinics, medical centers, imaging centers, etc.), municipalities, non-governmental organizations and trade associations. Students who graduate from our program can complete their undergraduate studies with a vertical transfer to the departments of nursing, nursing and health services.
