DEGREE PROGRAMMES

: ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

General Description

History

The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department (EEE) was founded in 1981 as part of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Ege University. In 1982, the Department of EEE was incorporated into the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of the newly established Dokuz Eylül University. The Department of EEE started its graduate and undergraduate programs in the academic years of 1981-1982 and 1982-1983, respectively. The department adopted English as its teaching language for the graduate program in 1987 and for the undergraduate program in 1993.
Our Graduate Programmes (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) train their students in the study areas of circuits and systems, electronics, electromagnetics, electrical machines, signal processing, control, and telecommunications and aim to provide its graduates with the abilities of conducting independent research, participating in research and development projects as part of the project staff, and disseminating outcomes of their research work by publishing in conference proceedings and scientific journals.

Qualification Awarded

Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Level of Qualification

Third Cycle (Doctorate Degree)

Specific Admission Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) diploma; minimum 80/100 or 3/4 Cumulative Grade Point Average, minimum score of 60 from the National Central Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) in the related field; a minimum score of 70 from the graduate school entrance exam; a minimum score of 55 from the nation-wide Foreign Language Exam ( YDS ) or equivalent score from an exam accredited by YÖK.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

This degree enables the holder to exercise the profession in the public or private sector. Students who complete our Graduate studies (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) find jobs as managers or research and development engineers in private or governmental institutions who operate in the electrical and electronics sectors, or may work at universities. Especially in recent years, due to the economic growth in Turkey, more job opportunities appear in energy, telecommunications, automotive, electronics, white goods, biomedical, and defense industry sectors.

Access to Further Studies

May apply to post doctorate programmes.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits

In addition to the compulsory courses of the programme, students register to elective courses appropriate for their thesis topic, on the consent of their supervisor. If necessary, on the consent of their supervisor, they can also register to courses from other programmes (from DEU or other universities). It is obligatory to register EEE 5503. But, with approval of the supervisor, instead of registering EEE 5503 students can also register to EEE 5129 or EEE 5131, or one compulsory course from Mathematic or Statistic program (Except MAT5101). In the case of one of these courses taken during the M.Sc. education, these are not obligatory. The registration must be noticed to the Institute during course registration period by the supervisor.
