History |
This program has been initiated under YÖK/World Bank Project in 2002 2003 academic year. This two-year program is composed of four semesters, each 14 weeks duration. In these two years, academic courses, laboratories and also industry based learning are educated. |

The student must complete 2 years of study acquiring 120 (ECTS) credits. This degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum, compulsory 40 days of internship and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00/4.00 and no failing grades. |
Profile of the Programme |
Biomedical Technology program has been initiated under YÖK/World Bank Project in 1996-1997 academic year. The curriculum has designed to introduce the students to the fundamental concepts of biomedical applications and experiments. The students complete their practice lessons to perform their eight weeks industrial based learning in the second class (40 days compulsory). Both formal and evening educations are given in Turkish in the program. |

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples |
Biomedical equipment technicians work in hospitals, clinics and medical canters also their task in a manufacturing plants is under the supervision of engineers. Biomedical equipment technicians are responsible for installing, testing and repairing medical instruments and equipment. Biomedical equipment technicians install, repair and maintain medical equipment such as patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood gas analyzers, x ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anaesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure transducers, spirometers, sterilizers, diathermy equipment, patient care computers, and other related technical devices. |
Access to Further Studies |
According to the "Regulation on the Continuation of Undergraduate Education for Open Education Associate Degree Programs' and Vocational Schools' Graduates", the Vocational School Graduates, who wish to continue to the Undergraduate Degree, may register to the relevant departments by entering and succeeding the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS). Graduate students may apply to Bachelors programmes to the relavant fields of study such as Biomedical and Electronical Engineering Departments of the Faculty of Engineering . |
