General Description

History

Construction Technology Program started to education at 1982 1983 academic year. Higher Education World Bank Industrial Education Project I were established Laboratories at 1985. 2 year program consisting of four semesters of 14 weeks. This two year program in the process of theoretical lectures, laboratory practices and industry based training is provided. Program is to teach students the basic concepts of building and construction of the building with all kinds of industrial and laboratory applications designed to develop manual skills.

The program aims to meet current and future needs of the elements of the construction sector. For this reason, the construction sector, which is a member of the technician skilled construction workers should be provided with more information and foresight.

The main task of a Construction technician, construction engineers, laboratory and Site Productions to help. To this end, the program extensive knowledge on the basic principles of manufacturing all sorts of buildings and high tech devices intended to educate the students with the ability to use and control.

Vocational high school diploma or high school diploma, placement through a nation-wide Student Selection Examination.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter institutional credit transfer and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate. The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management.

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK) The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in Graduate Transfer Guide and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.
According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing.

Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The student must complete 2 years of study acquiring 120 (ECTS) credits. This degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum, compulsory 40 days of internship and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00/4.00 and no failing grades.

Profile of the Programme

The program covers the basic professional knowledge and industry based, theoretical courses are given vocational college classrooms, laboratories, the application of the program are courses. Students in the second year 8 weeks (40 working days compulsory) courses during the application and complete the internship based on their industry. Construction Technology Program, formal education and secondary education is given in Turkish. 60 students at first grade (formal education) and 60 students at first grade (evening education) as total 120 students are in education and training. The program serves 4 Instructor. Izmir Vocational School of Construction Technology Program is used laboratory. In this laboratory, Materials, Concrete, Soil Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, Hydraulic, Asphalt tests to be conducted. Students are able to practice using instruments and equipments at this laboratory Provided by the Higher Education World BankIndustrial Education project. Private sector and public sector training and technical excursion services are offered to students.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   Has a sufficient background in basic engineering, with basic math, and science.
2   Be able to the detection, identification, to formulate and decoding the problems in his field.
3   Knows, building materials and chemicals used in construction. Knows its uses.
4   Knows the modes of production of construction materials.
5   Conduct experiments in the field, collect data, and has the ability to interpret the data, results obtained from the experiment and has the ability of reporting.
6   Has the ability to select and use of modern techniques and development, of tools are needed for applications in the field.
7   Ability of effective using of data processing necessary in the field.
8   Has the ability to work effectively individual or in a team.
9   Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken Turkish of at least one foreign language and have the ability to monitor developments in the field of information and technology.
10   Conscious-long learning, monitoring the developments in technology and continuous self-development has a request.
11   On the scientific and professional ethical values have the ability to be aware of.
12   Aapplications, universal and social dimensions of health, environmental and safety effects on knowledge of contemporary issues; solutions have necessary knowledge and consciousness of the legal consequences.
13   Technical Drawing ability to effectively communicate with applications and uses.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Students graduating from building sites, industrial facilities that produce building materials, construction auditing firms, construction material quality control, Architecture and engineering offices can work as a technician.

Access to Further Studies

According to the "Regulation on the Continuation of Undergraduate Education for Open Education Associate Degree Programs" and Vocational Schools" Graduates", the Vocational School Graduates, who wish to continue to the Undergraduate Degree, may register to the relevant departments by entering and succeeding the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).
