Course Objective

To establish the basic principles of reinforced concrete structural member and sytem behaviour and to introduce the basic principles of the analytical methods and design procedures.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The student will be expected to comprehend the principles of the behaviour of reinforced concrete and its component materials in order to be able to analyze and solve basic RC problems.
2   The student will be expected to list the reinforced concrete elements and principles of their behaviour to be able to design simple RC elements
3   It is expected that the student will use his/her RC knowledge to perform analysis and design computations for some basic structural members concerning some basic problems.
4   The student will be expected to explain the principles of selecting foundation type in order to decide for an appropriate foundation type.
5   The student will be expected to explain the principles of foundation design in order to design a simple foundation.
