General Description

History

Our department has continued its activities during the process of change from the High School of Economics and Trade and Izmir Economic and Commercial Sciences Academy as the Public Finance Chair; related to the Ege University, Faculty of Economics and Commercial Sciences and Faculty of Economics and Dokuz Eylul University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Department of Public Finance. Our department continues Fiscal Ph.D. programs affiliated to Dokuz Eylül University Institute of Social Science.

Specific Admission Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) diploma; a minimum score of 60 from the nation-wide Academic Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) in the related field or GRE/GMAT equivalent; a minimum score of 55 from the Foreign Language Exams (YDS/e-YDS/YÖKDİL) or from equivalent foreign language proficiency exam approved by OSYM. Transcript; a minimum score of 75 from the graduate school academic proficiency exam.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

4 years, 2 semesters per year,16 weeks per semester, 240 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

Department of Finance graduate programs aims to educate scientific masters of Public Finance who are capable of independent thinking, can put forth original ideas, make scientific research, have the ability to do original thinking and studying, and interpret economic and financial developments, have a critical perspective, innovative, can propose solutions to the financial problems that, have scientific ethic.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduates of the Ph.D. in public finance are trained to be able to take up suitable positions at the private sector and the public sector. The graduates of MS program may also further study for the Ph. D. İn order to improve their academic career.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates may apply to post doctorate studies.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Evaluation and assessment methods for each course is defined in the the Course Description Form which is prepared by related faculty member / s and included in the information package. Exams and course success notes is subject to the relevant articles of the DEU Regulation on Graduate Education.

Graduation Requirements

Third Cycle (Doctorate Degree) Program with thesis is comprised of courses (84 ECTS), a field study (3 ECTS), a seminar (3 ECTS) and thesis (150 ECTS), in total 240 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/S/TP grades.
