History |
In 1973, the idea of Marine Research in the Aegean University, "Multidisciplinary Research Program for Regional Development" started in the framework of the ship and marine laboratory equipment required for data collection efforts has been the establishment in question. The Institute was established depending on the University of the Aegean on 14/10/1975, and connected to the Dokuz Eylul University in 1982. |

First Cycle (Bachelor's Degree) diploma; minimum score of 55 from the National Central Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) in the related field; a minimum score of 65 from the graduate school entrance exam; a minimum score of 60 from the nation-wide Foreign Language Exam (YDS) or equivalent score from an exam accredited by YÖK or a minimum score of 65 from DEU School of Foreign Languages English Proficiency Test. |
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students may be accepted for graduate transfer with the approval of the Department Directorate and decision of the Board of Directors of the Graduate School in case the student fulfills the graduate transfer regulations decided by the General Council of the Graduate School. Previously taken courses at another graduate programme with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes with the written request of the students including course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the Department Directorates and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students may have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective by the decision of the Board of Directors. |

Profile of the Programme |
The primary interests of Marine Living Resources are marine ecosystems, marine organisms distribution and their relationships with each other and their surroundings. In this context, our institution carries out the investigation of the biological and ecological characteristics of many species, populations and communities in different scales such as individual by performing autoecologic, sinecologic and demecologic studies in our seas starting from the most primitive single-celled organisms up to the most advanced of marine mammals. After identification, several studies can be carried out in order to monitor and protect the biodersity in our seas. Identifying, monitoring and assessment studies for impacts caused by natural events or human impact on marine and coastal areas. In addition to these studies, the effects of climate changes on the marine ecosystem, indicators, alien and invasive species, pollution sources and effects, determination of fisheries resources, stock prediction and management, sustainable use of stocks, our current fisheries policies in dealing with challenges such as the production and investigation of the environmental impact of aquaculture on issues being studied. |

Graduation Requirements |
Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (3 ECTS), M. Sc. Research (3 ECTS) and M. Sc. Thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50 / 4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades. |
