General Description

History

Human Resources Non-Thesis Master s Programme aims at developing and managing the programs (employee placement methods, salaries, fringe benefits, human resources policies etc.) designed to increase the efficiency of the organizations.
The main aim of Master s degree programme in human resources is to educate scholarship experts who have the ability to evaluate, interpret, apply the knowledge and create new knowledge through giving insights about scientific research method in macro and micro dimensions of human resources.
Non-thesis Master s Degree Programme in Human Resources started up in 2001. Until 2012, non-thesis Master's degree programme in Human Resources has continued under the name of non-thesis Master's Degree Programme in Human Resources and Industrial Relations at the Graduate School of Social Sciences. At the beginning of 2012-2013 school years, it has named non-thesis Master's Degree Programme in Human Resources .

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

1,5 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 90 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

The objective of this Non-thesis Master programme is to give required knowledge, competence, scientific research methods and culture to the candidates of scholarship expert who have the potential of academic studying with an insight of having a purpose of increasing the work and life satisfaction through orientating the human resources and providing social protection.
There are 15 compulsory courses and 1 term project in the programme.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   They have the ability to think scientifically, learn and with using know-how, reach to knowledge, evaluate and interpret the knowledge in social sciences field.
2   They have information about the structure, potential and the role for development of our human existence in macro level and have knowledge about international labour movement.
3   They know the politics of family, education and health at the level which they can express an opinion and generate a solution with critical thinking.
4   They are expert at the theoretical level for human resources processes and functions. They can constitute new knowledge in these issues and can develop applications.
5   They have the basic knowledge of science of psychology and sociology concerned closely with human resources, the extent at which they can implement and develop this knowledge to manage processes and consequences in working life.
6   They have the basic knowledge of science of law concerned closely with human resources, the extent at which they can implement and develop this knowledge to manage processes and consequences in working life.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

People who graduated from sub-department of Human Resources and Industrial Relations keeping hold of MA degree should be employment in some positions at Ministry of Labour and Social Security and dependent institutions and human resources staff, expert or trainee manager positions at human resources service in company at private sector.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates may apply to the related employment positions in their area of specialization.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits

All courses in Human Resources non-thesis master programme are compulsory. Students who have successfully completed courses in first three semesters have to perapare and defend a project. There are 15 compulsory courses and 1 graduation project in this programme. Non-Thesis Master programme students are obliged to submit their term-projets at the end of third semester.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Non-Thesis Program is comprised of courses (at least 75 ECTS), Term Project (15 ECTS), in total 90 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/ S / TP grades.
