History |
The doctorate program is carried out by the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation established with the senate decision number 1905.07.1993/194-15. In the semester of 1996-1997 first enrolments were accepted and in 2000 first graduates were qualified. The program carried out under the Institue of Health Sciences is completed in at least 4 semesters. The language of the program is Turkish. |

Specific Admission Requirements |
Second Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines. Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first or second cycle (with thesis) cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. However, ALES requirement is waived for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs as well as for the admissions to the graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee. |
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
A successful student who has completed at least one semester at any postgraduate programme may be admitted to an institute at the University by lateral transfer. Requirements for admission of students by lateral transfer are determined by the Board of Directors of the Institute.Students who have matriculated after they have successfully passed the postgraduate entrance exam may be exempted from the courses they have already taken in other institutes upon the proposal of the relevant department and the approval of the Board of Directors of the Institute. However, the total credits of the exempted courses cannot exceed 1/3 of the credits required to finish the relevant programme. |
Qualification Requirements and Regulations |
Third Cycle (Doctorate Degree) Program is comprised of courses, (at least 90 ECTS), and thesis (150 ECTS), in total 240 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades. |
Profile of the Programme |
The doctorate program has been graduating students with the degree of doctor since the year of 1996. The program course are carried out in the School of Physiotherapy and rehabilitation settled in the Health Campus. The general im of the program is to raise doctor physiotherapists who; fully understand the philosophy of the science of physiotherapy, can carry out his/her knowledge and experience to the relevant fields; can develop new strategies in the fields of application and education; have the skill for improving the existing systems; are reformers, probing, inquisitorial; can exchange knowledge to product; can work in foundations in Turkey and worlwide which provide educational and health services in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. |

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
The assessment criteria for each course are defined in the Course Description Form included in the information pack prepared by the faculty member/members. The relevant items of the DEU Undergraduate, Graduate Education-Training and Exam Regulations and Instutie Examination Regulations apply in relation to exams and course grades. To be successful in this course must be received at least 75. |
