Course Objective

Building GENDER awareness within the students of Health Sciences and built up their professional responses in National Action Plan of Turkey related to the perspective on combating violence against women (VAW).

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Defining gender roles and reflection to the society.
2   2. Understanding the relations gender inequalities and VAW
3   3. Understanding global health issues related to the VAW
4   4. Understanding magnitude of the VAW in the world and in this country
5   5. Learning types of the VAW
6   6. Awareness the needs for health professionals to identification and referral of the victim
7   7. Learning their professional responses and its values in combating violence against women
8   8. Learning referral procedures for victims of VAW in this country

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 meet the program introduction, the pre-test, study group for victims of domestic violence, reflection of gender values and our jobs, gender equality inquiry group work, homework, giving the concept of gender equality visual accompaniment, the presentation and discussion of homework, gender equality and women process of normalization of violence, evaluation and discussion of the day.
2 Film screening and discussion, guided discussion images, violence, violence victims can apply mechanisms, responsibilities related to the topic of health workers, victims of violence and comminication skills, self-awareness and development, evaluation, final test.
