General Description
History |
Higher Economy and Trade School, which is called Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences in todays, was established on September 9, 1944. Then it was named Economic and Commercial Sciences Academy by the Law No. 7334 adopted on June 8, 1959. ıt was joined to Ege University as a four- year faculty in 1968. On July 20, 1982 it was joined to Dokuz Eylül University under the name of Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences by Decree Law No. 41 on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions. Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Dokuz Eylül University has distinguished position among the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in Turkey with deep rooted history and academic staff. |

Specific Admission Requirements |
First Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines, Transcript, Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first cycle cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. The exceptions to the requirements of ALES and Foreign Language Proficiency scores is announced by the Graduate School. However, ALES requirement is waived for the admissions to the second cycle graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test as well as for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee. |
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective. |

Profile of the Programme |
The master program in Public administration aims to educate students with a theoretical background which also includes knowing the theories about public administration, accessing to information and the ability to interpret information. In that way, it is aimed students to gain theoretical knowledge in the fields of political science, urban and environmental problems, administrative sciences and law. Also it is aimed to associate theoretical knowledge with the practices by using the different methods such as paper, project and field research. As of secondary class, it is enabled students to specialize in the fields which they want to specialization by elective courses in their programs. |

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples |
The Graduates of Department of Public Administration graduate as having a comprehensive knowledge related with the fields of Political Science, Management Science, Urbanization and Environment and Law. It is aimed students to graduate as having the goods by having not only a theoretical Infrastructure related with public administration but also an ability of accessing and interpreting the information. Because of this, it is aimed to associate theoretical knowledge with practices by using the different methods such as paper, project and field research. Also our students take the courses in the other fields such as Public Finance, Economics, and Business Administration. The graduates do not have specific titles. However, they can work almost every institution when they are successful in the exams which are provided as central or prepared by each institutions one by one. Also they can apply to some occupations such as administrative jurisdiction judges, district governor (prefecture), inspector, expert and assistant expert. Besides, they can be employed in local administration. The graduates, who want to work in private sector, can be employed in banks, research institutes, companies. They can tent to have an academic career in public administration and related disciplines. There are a great number of our students appointed different universities as research assistants. |

Evaluation and assessment methods for each course is defined in the the Course Description Form which is prepared by related faculty member / s and included in the information package. Exams and course success notes is subject to the relevant articles of the DEU Regulation on Graduate Education. |
Graduation Requirements |
Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Program with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 55 ECTS), a seminar (3 ECTS) and field study (2 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/ S / TP grades. |
