Course Objective

In order to understand the nature of the modern world, the earlier forms of society and the main aspects of change processes have been examined by various scientific branches (anthropology, ethnology, history, folklore etc.). The interdisciplinary characteristic of administrative science enables reality of administration to research and understand by taking advantage from these scientific branches
Primarily, investigating and understanding the reality of administration is related to the development of administrative thought The concrete means of its achieving is the examining of pre-civilized era and the administration application forms and administration thinking of different civilizations.
The question of what the idea of modern administration is a question that needs to be answered by working on the oldest forms of government of the history of mankind. By historical handling to the evaluation of administrative thought, course is aiming to examine by providing a comparative analysis of different administrative thought and practices of pre-modern era by way of mythological, religious, philosophical and political information materials Thus, it is contributed to the understanding of the complex structure of modern administrative thought.

In accordance with weekly readings, active participation of students is measured according to their preparing assignments and presentations, book review and a final exam.

Assessment Criteria

The evaluation criteria of active participation to the course: 1- To participate discussions in the class in the light of information obtained by reading the resources on a weekly basis 2-To read the other students submitted papers before presentation, to ask question during the presentation of papers, to explain and participate to discussion
The evaluation criteria for book review:1- Justification showing the reason of choosing the book which they choose. Why have been these books chose 2-The student s comparing the book with his/her thought (and the other writers thoughts). 3- To specify the contribution of the book to a student.
The evaluation criteria for the preparation of paper and presentation: 1- Reviewing the literature related with the subject and benefiting satisfyingly from reviewed literature. 2- To submit paper on time. To make a presentation on time.
The evaluation criteria for exam which is performed at the end of term: To interpret the question or the questions accordance with the readings and discussions done during the term.
