Course Objective

Species and communities cannot be isolated from their habitats. Natural reserves aims to conserve habitats that destroyed by anthropogenical pollutants by controlling non-degraded fields. During this course, conservation statuses and management of nature reserves will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students know conservation areas with official status
2   Students can interpret the status of biodiversity on protected areas
3   Students know ideal management and protection methods in these areas
4   Students are able to express Turkey's obligations on protected areas according to international agreements
5   Students can identify problems in natural protected areas and close around them

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is taught in a lecture, class presentation and discussion format. Besides the taught lecture, group presentations are to be prepared by the groups assigned and presented in a discussion session. In some weeks of the course, results of the homework given previously are discussed.
