Course Objective

Aim of the course which search political, religious, economic and social structures of European and Islamic World in the middle age, is to represent basic sources and explanations about Eastern and Western civilizations in the middle age, to evaluate and teach socio-cultural and economic events which determine these civilizations as much as political history, to explain and semtinize transition dynamics and formations.

1   To learn sources about Eastern and Western civilizations in the middle age
2   To define medieval process and development of Eastern and western civilizations in this process
3   To learn basic concepts and events about medieval Eastern and Western civilizations
4   To interpret historical, economic and social developments of medieval Eastern and Western societies
5   To evaluate the place and importance of medieval Eastern and Western culture and civilization in the world history

4 Empires and Kingdoms in the medieval Europe II (English and French Kingdoms, Papacy, Byzantine Empire
5 States which leave a trace in the Islamic World I (Umayyads, Abbasids, Karakhanids, Ghaznavids)
6 States which leave a trace in the Islamic World II (Seljuks, Eyyubis, Memluks)
7 Feudal System in Europe: Similarities and differences of Eastern and Western Feudalism

9 Reasons, occurrence and results of the Crusades
10 The effects of the Crusades to Muslim and Christian World
11 East West trade in the middle age
