Course Objective

The course objective is to discuss the education policies and the main role of state in shaping those education policies from the viewpoint of gender equality.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to be able to express the notion of state and state feminism
2   to be able to understand education policies against gender discrimination
3   to be able to analyze state and education policies from the aspect of gender and women
4   to be able to discuss comparatively the role of state on education policies
5   to be able to evaluate the main education policies in developed and developing countries from the viewpoint of women and gender studies.

Assessment Criteria

1- The project should be presented as 20-40 pages of written text within the scope of the research title assigned to the students. It is important that the project should be written in line with academic ethics (free from plagiarism) and should reflect critical thinking. It is important for students to be able to explain each stage of the project, present the project to their classmates, answer the questions directed to them, and carry out the original value of the research.

2- The students are expected to be able to identify the key issues by questioning case studies presented to them, to deconstruct the texts in the reading list, to critically filter them and develop some analytical findings and propositions.

Course Policies and Rules

1. 70% attendance is obligatory.
2. Any kind of plagiarism will be subject to disciplinary action.
3. Preparation to weekly lectures (reading the respective material) and contribution to in class discussion is obligatory.
4. Students prepare presentations about topics given by the lecturer.
