Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the students the development of conservation culture in Turkey and in the world, and to introduce the related main terms, and to examine conservation application processes and documentation methods and techniques.

1   Outline the development of conservation culture in Turkey and in the world,
2   Identify the main terms related to conservation and restoration,
3   Arrange procedure processes in conservation applications,
4   Express the importance, methods and techniques of documentation in conservation applications,
5   Express the importance of raw material information in conservation applications,
6   Plan the conservation period and things to-do related to a work of art.

7 The importance of raw material knowledge in conservation applications, and interdisciplinary studies

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The aim is to get the students to attend the classes at a maximum level, and have them comprehend the subjects by researching and discussing. Accordingly, the instructor assigns the students research subjects. During the research, the instructor guides the students. After the research, the assignment is submitted and presented as a report. So, in the lesson the students are able to discuss and exchange ideas, and the instructor guides them.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

In this course, the students will prepare an assignment and present it, and also they will be given a final exam. The passing grade will be determined in accordance with the grades taken from the assignment and the final exam.

Assessment Criteria

Both the assignment and the final exam will be out of 100. The 40 % of the assignment and 60 % of the final will determine the passing grade.

Turkish

Course Policies and Rules

70 % attendance is compulsory.
Before the end of the term, in the last 15 days, students will be able to learn their attendance. The students who have failed due to absenteeism will not be admitted the final exam.
By no means is the student given the exam again, if he does not take the mid-term or/and the final without any excuse.
