Course Objective

Obesity and chronic diseases in adults, adolescents and school children is gradually becoming a major public health problem. Therefore, the aim of this course is to discuss the effects of inactivity and sedentary lifestyle on public health and to improve student understanding of the knowledge and principles of health related components of physical fitness, measures to prevent obesity and chronic diseases and to develop exercise programs to improve physical fitness, and health and well-being.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, the student will; be able to understand the basis of using physical activity/exercise training in the prevention and management of diseases such as heart disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, cancer and obesity.
2   be able to comprehend the diverse content of exercise prescription based on type, frequency and intensity of exercise training
