Course Objective

The Basic Art Education helps the students to sense and visualize the aspects of the objects. In order to acquire and strengthen their drawing techniques, basic design methods, composition rules, the principles of art in the history and current contemporary trends are being taught in two and three dimensional designs. Geometrical dimensions of the objects and their relations with each other are studied with both theoretical and practical examinations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Prepare basic art works
2   Prepare art works using the Dots - Lines, Light Tones and Dark Tones, Light and Shadow, Texture and Structure
3   Express the concepts of "Form, Function and Composition" and their written and oral definitions
4   Adopt the Principles of the Perspective by using the technical and artistic drawing methods
5   Identify, analyze, and learn the formal relationships of the elements of the compositions
6   Practice the elements of the design process, in order to make the appropriate compositions

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Each student prepares a "Basic Art Education - Design Portfolio" through the 15 Weeks of the course period. The integrated evaluation is carried out with the Design Portfolio, homework and exams.

Assessment Criteria

The success of the student will be evaluated by measuring the 6 Learning Outcomes and plus with the Midterm Exams, Final Exams, Make-Up Exams and the Design Portfolio.

Turkish

Course Policies and Rules

70% of course attendance is mandatory. In case of detection of any copy content on the "Design Portfolio", student work will be excluded from the assessment.
