Course Objective

Lecture lets the students gain the essential knowledge on woven fabric structure , learn the evolution steps of the fabric on the loom , learn the terms warp ,weft ,weaving raport , weaving draft , comb, armure , etc. , to learn the weaving patterns plain weave, twill , satin , basis and derivatives of texture and to create new weaving types is aimed

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Have the knowledge of the woven fabric structures on basic texture
2   Determine warp , weft , weaving report , comb ,weaving draft , armure, etc. , in order to weave fabric
3   Prepare weaving report, comb , weaving draft and armure plans of the fabric structure
4   Learn basic textures and derivatives
5   To create new one from the previous basic textures

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 What is weaving the information on the definitions of the headstones to compose weaving texture as weft-warp threads , weaving report , weaving draft , comb, armure , healds wire, mouthpiece and their practices
2 Practice all the definitions that were informed last week on the weaving loom and to have a small workshop on the loom
3 General information on the fabric structures and basic textures
4 Preparing the plain weave, weaving draft , comb, and armure plan
5 Panama and rips textures derivates of plain weaves
6 Twill textures , composition of Z and S way
7 Twill weave derivates , cross twilsl and sharp ended twilsl
8 Broken twills and shaded twills
9 Vertical and horizontal twills, gabardine, wipcord and drape
10 Term exam
11 Satin weaves
12 Combine satins of Derivates of Satin weaves
13 Strength satins and shaded satins
14 Crepe weaves

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Teacher/instructor determines the definittion of weaving with references and shows all the steps of weaving on the loom . Let the students work on the loom togather with the teacher while learning the definition of warp,weft, comb, weaving draft , armure , mouthpiece . After that instructor gives the knowledge of essential weaving textures and their derivatives supporting with
the comb , weaving draft , and armure plans working at class and home and asks the students to use all these knowledge during the lesson .

Creates new weaves with essential ones and prepares comb, weaving draft and armure plans

Assessment Criteria

Students will be evaluated by midterm and final exams.
