The instructor guides the students towards different sources to help them comprehend the portrait drawing and application techniques in miniature; and, the students choose the portrait of the Ottoman Sultan to be reproduced. After the students gain the skill at using lining and brush at a certain extent, they start to draw an original composition including the composition factors used in miniature and complete it by colouring. During the designing stage, the discussions on the sketches and compositions will be realized in the first and last lessons every week by the instructor. In addition, the students will be encouraged to represent their opinions on the compositions and attend the in-class discussions.
