Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the students the glazing used for production of General Ceramics-Tile, the calculations of seger formula, and the kinds of glass making and glazing.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   learn the kinds of glazing used in glazing,
2   learn the solution of seger formula, make artistic glazing,
3   learn the features of alkaline, leaded boron glaze,
4   learn the reasons and production of glass making,
5   learn artistic glazing.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, the subjects within the program will be taught theoretically in the laboratory with students participation. Furthermore, when necessary, students will be able to see the materials visually.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Because of being a theoretical course, we will make use of lecture notes and resources. Also, the students will prepare a research project about the life and works of a tile or ceramics artist.

Assessment Criteria

Mid term, the project and the final exam will be considered in evaluation.

Due to its being a theoretical course, at the end of each lesson students will be asked to give a knowledge recycle about the lesson. So, the students will always concentrate on the lesson. Participations will be evaluated according to the criteria mentioned above. The next lesson s subject will be given to the students so that they will make preliminary preparation.
