Course Objective

The course aims to develop intervention decisions related to the preservation of the cultural entities and the historic environment. With this aim, the documentation, restitution and restoration projects related to the case studies are to be developed. Within the process, characters of the cultural entity, preservation values, implementations of different phases and the preservation priorities are to be determined; the decisions related to the current uses are to be taken and the conservation techniques are to be proposed.

2   Identification of the preservation values of historic buildings.
3   Questioning the re-uses and the spatial possibilities.
4   Identification of the preservation priorities of the historic buildings and environments.
5   Proposing the conservation techniques of the historic buildings.
6   Developing the Documentation, Restitution and Restoration Projects.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The learning process is developed on the project/ problem based learning. The students determine the preservation problems of the cultural entity and develop the intervention decisions related to them. Through the individual studies, mid-term assessments and the final jury, the learning process is observed and recorded.
