Course Objective

This course aim to examine first modern houses presented in 1920 in modern architecture throughout the architectural history. Modern houses form and its figuration will debate the term of cubic house which this terminology using defines for geometrical formation and single family house starting from Europe and spread across the world and come into view Turkey. Example of cubic houses research and discuss in Turkey and Europe within the scope of this course.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to observe changing civil architecture with direction of modernism, modern idea, modernity
2   To be able to comprehend along with understanding the changes occuring together with the rise of modernism and modern space
3   To be able to research development and process of formation premise example image of modern housing Cubic house which emerged in Europe
4   To be able to describe civil architecture consist of social, economical, political, cultural reasons and different parameters using formation of cubic house in Turkey and premise example of Europe
5   To be able to express researching with relationship modern architecture and its architectural form using visual, written and vocal

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures: Theoretical lectures will be given and applied presentetaions.
Researchand Design Excercises: Students will be expected to present their projects. However, design exercises or workshops will be practiced at the end of the term. Students must actively participate the courses all term.

Assessment Criteria

Exams covers the reading texts and presentations made during the theoretical part of the course. Assignments might be given in the light of group presentations and weekly discussions and prepared individually. In order to achieve the final exam, it is highly recommended to submit all assignments on time and regularly, and revise them with the guidance of the instructor. Group presentations require a collaborative effort. It is the group's responsibility to ensure that each group member contributes to the group work equally. Student participation will depend on, the student's attendance, the quality of student's responses to the questions during the course and the student's contribution to create a positive learning environment.

1. The participation of the %70 of the courses is mandatory.
2. Late submissions will be subject to a different evaluation.
3. All kinds of plagiarism will result in a disciplinary action.
4. Instructor might do quiz or exercises in the term. Their marks will be considered in the general average.
