Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to train nurses who have the main knowledge of microbiology and microorganisms, infectious diseases caused by microorganisms, prevention and treatment principles of these diseases, the importance of the concepts of sterilization and disinfection and put these into practice.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The student understands the effects and transmission modes of infections and principles of prevention and basic treatment.
2   The student understands the importance of aseptic applications.
3   The student can identify the factors, sources and transmission modes of cross infection and prevention measures.

Assessment Criteria

In the assessment of the course, 60% of the midterm grade and 40% of the final grade shall determine the semester grade. The total midterm grade shall be calculated by taking the average of midterm exams.
Semester Grade: 60% intra-semester grade (30% of 1st Midterm Exam + 30% of 2nd Midterm Exam) + 40% final grade
