Course Objective

Examining the basic formations of the history of world art; trying to understand the adventure lived by artistic creation in the periods extending from Prehistoric Times and Antiquity to industrialization and Modernism in the frame of its relations with architecture and with the period specific layers; discussing artistic production in the historical process through different expression ways.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In the course, theoretical/visual lectures related with the subjects will be realized accompanied by the student discussions. Students will research some selected artistic formations of art history and Modern Art approaches and they will discuss their research findings by presenting them through different expressions (verbal, written, visual, digital, etc.). The researches and presentations carried out by the students will be evaluated as the mid-term and end-of-term assignments.

15% of the grade is minor assignment/presentation, 35% is major assignment/presentation which will replace the mid-term exam, 50% is final assignment which will replace the final exam. Also the make-up assignment which will replace the make-up exam is 50% of the grade.

Assessment Criteria

Minor assignment/presentation: 15% (LO1, LO2)
Mid-term Exam (Major assignment/presentation): 35% (LO1, LO2, LO3)
Final Exam (Final assignment): 50% (LO1, LO2, LO3, LO4)
Make-up Exam (Make-up assignment): 50% (LO1, LO2, LO3, LO4)
