Course Objective

To analyze the architectural environment in relation to current developments and context in a multifaceted way (conceptual, urban, cultural, social, economic and historical aspects): to analyze a research-based design project at the end of the creative thinking process.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1..Analyze the given design problems and context in a multifaceted (conceptual, urban, cultural, social, economic and historical) perspective.
2   2. Gain awareness of researching the architectural design problem in a versatile way and to associate it with current developments.
3   3. Identify the requirements and spatial equivalents of a medium complex architectural program. To be able to associate different building systems around a main idea and to design them in an integrated manner.
4   4. Analyze an architectural design project based on research at the end of the creative thinking process.
5   5. Express the architectural design project and process with different representation media and techniques (visually, in writing and verbally).

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The learning process develops through project / problem-based learning.Students develop answers to the spatial problems / questions directed to them and progress with criticism.The learning process of the student is observed and recorded with the criticisms given during the course, midretm jury (midterm submission) and final jury (final submission).

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Explanations on Assessment Methods:
1. Mıdterm Exam ( Midterm jury): It is one of the important stages of the creative thinking and design process and will be graded. (LO3, LO5).

2. Research Homework / Presentation: Researching the theoretical and applied information and presenting it through different representation media and techniques is one of the important stages of the process and will be graded. (LO1, LO2, LO3).

3. Final Exam (Final Jury) (LO1, LO2, LO3, LO4, LO5) It is the last stage of the process of addressing the architectural design problem in a multifaceted way and developing a research-based architectural design project. Ability to interpret versatile design and context analysis; awareness of investigating the architectural design problem in a multifaceted way; be able to develop a medium complexity architectural program requirement and its spatial counterparts within the framework of a main idea with original and comprehensive solutions; to provide the conceptual depth, clarity and continuity of the main idea throughout the process; will be evaluated with the criteria of being able to express the project process in a qualified way in visual, written and verbal environments.

1) Participating in 6 individual critics during the term is important for the final jury.
