Course Objective

The main objective of the course is to examine the architectural approaches in the design of new buildings which will be constructed in historical pattern, each being a cultural prosperity and to emphasize the method, which can be pursued within this context.

1   Describing the concepts of historical setting/pattern and sustainability
2   Correlating formation processes and basic components of historical patterns
3   Using current analysis/reading aimed methods aiming data production for new design approaches in historical patterns
4   Discussing main design approaches of new buildings in historical settings by means of in-class presentations
5   Developing original design ideas on the subject

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Theory
Theoretical transfers and visual representations on the topics will be carried out.
2. Assignments
In the second half of the semester, there will be in-class presentations by students on main design approaches of new buildings in historical settings, and discussions by means of case studies.
