Course Objective

To teach how to map geological structures and how prepare geological report.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to use field equipments.
2   To be able to make observation on the geological structures.
3   To be able to mapping geological units.
4   To be able to drawing geological structures on the topographic maps.
5   To be able to establish lithostratigraphic columnar section of a given area.
6   To be able to interprate geological structure observed in the field.
7   To be able to evaluate geological data obtained from the field.
8   To be able to prepare geological report.

11 Field studies in magmatic rocks.
12 Field studies in metamorphhic rocks.
13 Evaluation of geological data obtained from the field and writing geological report.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Face to face learing. Several field studies in order to applying of theorical data. Private field work in order to know how to study in the field and how to write a geological report.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The theoretical subjects which given in face to face learing will be evaluated in mid-term exam. Private field works will be evaluated at the end of each field work. Private geological reports will be evaluated in combination of field works.

Assessment Criteria

The main criteria to be master of learning outcomes for students is to applied to the class and completed the homework. The students must have to make all studies by themselves. They should rule to accord with writing report. The student can not take final exam if they take a homework grade under fifty grade.

Course Policies and Rules

The student should attend to most of the classes and applications (%70-80). Each student should prepare their field work geological report by themselves. All the report should be prepared in handwriting.
