Course Objective

Objectives of this course are to analyze the environmental systems via integrated approach and to give basic approaches for sustainable natural resources management and less waste production considering professional ethics and responsibility.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Define the concept of sustainability
2   To be aware of the need for optimal natural resources management with a sense of professional ethics and responsibility
3   Application of pollution prevention techniques
4   Discuss the feasibility of waste minimization techniques for different production processes
5   Ability of compare to different waste minimization techniques considering changes in science and technology.
6   Prediction capability of risks from wastes during project design and operation of plant.

A midterm exam, presentations and quizzes will be considered as an assessing criteria of the lecture. Questions prepared considering the scope of previous lectures will be asked in quizzes and at least 4 quizzes will be made.
