Course Objective

This course strives to enable the learner to have a new orientation and way of thinking by focusing on business model through innovation and sustainability perspectives. Within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, this course will introduce innovative business model approaches to sustainable solutions of economic, environmental and social problems. This course also aims to equip the learner with the skills to develop and analyze sustainable business models via necessary frameworks and tools.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the business model concept and its components.
2   Understand business model innovations within the context of environmental, social and economic sustainability.
3   Learn the frameworks, tools to develop and analyze sustainable business models.
4   Enhance their skills in communicating their ideas.

Assessment Criteria

ASSIGNMENT 1: Students are expected to the read the assigned chapter, understand the related SDG, briefly summarize it by discussing the SDG from the business point of view.

ASSIGNMENT 2: Students individually are expected to analyze the sustainability report of a firm (either local or global) assigned by the instructor.

ASSIGNMENT 3: Learners in groups are expected to develop a sustainable business model by using the frameworks and the tools introduced in the course. Groups will prepare a report and present their business model offerings.

ASSIGNMET 4: Discussions will be conducted based on the findings of Assignment 2.

1. Attending at least 70 percent of lectures is mandatory.
