Course Objective

The objective of the course is to introduce; discrete and continuous probability models, to calculate probabilities from special probability distributions, sampling distributions, central limit theorem, to form confidence intervals and hypothesis testing and to calculate covariance and correlation.

1   Calculating probabilities, expected value and variance with some special discrete distributions
2   Calculating probabilities, expected value and variance with some special continuous distributions
3   Using sampling distributions
4   Applying central limit theorem
5   Constructing confidence interval for various parameters
6   Testing statistical hypothesis for various parameters
7   Calculating covariance and correlation coefficient

4 Special Continuous Distributions (Standard Normal, Exponential) Using a Normal Distribution to Approximate Binomial Probabilities
5 Sampling Distributions and The Central Limit Theorem
6 Confidence Interval for a Population Mean: Normal (z) statistic and Student's t-statistic
7 Large Sample Confidence Interval for a Population Proportion, Confidence Intervals for a Population Variance (Chi-square distribution).

9 The Elements of a Test of Hypothesis, Test of Hypothesis About a Population Mean: Normal (z) statistic and Student's t-statistic
